Buy East of Eager

“Moviola are that rare and notoriously unstable entity—a band whose identity is the blurry combination of five individual voices, rather than a kingpin or two and their helpers. (What’s more...) they’ve sidestepped the traps and girdles of the alt-country nation—or any other tribe—in favor of forging their own route, casually beautiful and always believable.”
– David Greenberger

Moviola
emerge from a two-year hibernation in their self-built studio behind the plasma center with their sixth and easily best record, East of Eager. They've come about as far as you can come from their days as a ragged, lo-fi quartet "Neil Young's noisy nephews" – AP. These days, they're decidedly hi-fidelity, and East of Eager is a gorgeous, sparse, and soulful record (we're reminded of an updated Muswell Hillbillies or Phases and Stages). With five songwriters and singers in one band—they've created an understated, instant classic.
