Anyway Update, February 2006:
From the desk of Anyway Label chief,
Bela Koe-Krompecher:
Next up is the debut extended play from THE TERRIBLY EMPTY POCKETS “Get Wet”, who are cohorts with the above mentioned TIMES NEW VIKING. T.E.P. have released one hard to find single on Columbus Discount Records and will be in the studio this winter and early spring with producer Jason Lehning (ALISON KRAUSS, GUSTER, DERAILURE) for their upcoming ANYWAY/COLUMBUS DISCOUNT full-length due out this September. “Get Wet” is a five song teaser (seven songs for the vinyl version—limited) that showcases the bands knack for English/New Zealand inspired nervous pop that recalls The Wedding Present, The Bats, and American favorites such as Talking Heads—music that makes your feet dance and your face smile. Look for an June 19th release date for both Cowtown 5 and “Get Wet.”
In the fall THE WHILES will release their follow-up to “Colors of The Year” which ended up on plenty of year-end lists for 2004 and was featured in the Oscar nominated documentary “Murderball”. The as yet untitled records has been in the making for the past year and a half with recording locations in and around Columbus (some has been recorded in a Church). We should have some previews soon. Look for a September 11th release date for The Whiles and Terribly Empty Pockets full length.
In the near future: MOVIOLA is in the process of recording their seventh record right now in Used Kids Records in Columbus, as well as going through hours upon hours of unreleased recordings, live takes, comps and b-sides that have never seen the light of day.
We are still trying to put out the Orchestraville “Poisonberries” and hopefully when personal problems clear up among members this fine record will see the light of day. Jenny Mae as mentioned earlier is in the studio and sounds great.
